The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate would like to advise residents of the stormwater rehabilitation works that have commenced in Gugulethu along Solomon Mahlangu Crescent and Klipfontein Road. The work is planned to take place from Monday, 29 September 2025 until Tuesday, 14 October 2025, if all goes according to plan.
The works will take place between 07:30 and 16:00 from Monday to Friday. Residents are to please note that some night work has been planned on Monday, 13 October 2025 from 18:00 until 06.00 on Tuesday, 14 October 2025. Residents and business owners can expect some noise during this time.
‘The cleaning and repair of this existing stormwater pipeline in Gugulethu forms part of regular maintenance to alleviate flooding issues and to prolong the longevity of the city’s stormwater infrastructure network in the area. We recommend that road users be cautious while work is under way and be vigilant in and around the roadworks area by looking out for uneven road surfaces and being mindful of the construction workers. We thank you for your cooperation and patience as we try to complete the project as efficiently as possible,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
